This is why, my awareness through movement class to calm down your nervous system will involve movement of the eyes.
Yep…calming your nervous system is not just about breathing, rocking, tapping, although if course these can help and often do.
But I love how, for me, the movement of the eyes seem to go through a calming that seem to be more through the subconscious. It goes way beyond saying “relax” when you’re stressed out.
My students of all ages and backgrounds often express after these classes how they’re surprised on how calmer they feel afterwards.
