Pain Management

Rediscover the pleasure of moving with ease

Tools that help manage pain

If you are reading this page, it must be because you have tried many ways to relieve your pain. You are not alone.

Pain or injury can be the result of trauma, a build-up of habits, movement, or even compensation from an older injury. It can also be caused by arthritis, or other given conditions, and although some conditions can be permanent, I have seen clients find their pain alleviated by knowing how to implement a practice with tools that help manage the pain, and sometimes even eliminate it altogether. Pain doesn’t just burn off your energy, it keeps you from doing what you love.

Do you have chronic pain, or a physical or neurological condition that prevents you from achieving your full potential? Whether you are a student, a worker, a weekend or high level athlete, or an artist wishing to improve your skills, I have solutions for you!

I can help you alleviate your chronic pain and / or in the following situations:

  • Rehabilitation (following accidents or illnesses)
  • Postural or respiratory problems
  • Diseases having an influence on the musculoskeletal system
  • Support and accompaniment in chronic / progressive neurological diseases (multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, etc.)
  • Immobility / inactivity
  • Pain, reduced mobility, or other restrictions of the musculoskeletal system
  • Concentration and learning problems
  • Stress
  • Scoliosis
  • Back pain
  • Pelvic floor-hybertonicity / urinary retention problems
  • And more!
"I have been working with Christine for about three years. I first engaged with her after foot surgery. I had some success with a previous physical therapist, but had not achieved my goal of being able to take a 4-mile hike without significant pain. So, I decided to keep investing in the process. Good move. I can take a long hike today, or spend all day walking around a new city as a tourist, and not regret it. And three or four other more minor aches and pains of aging are getting better too. I feel better, have better posture, and move better. Christine has personally come back from serious injury and surgery, so she knows the road we're traveling.

Christine's credentials (Feldenkrais®, Yoga, Pilates, TRX, and FMS) are testimony to her drive to educate herself on how the normal body moves and feels, and how we can make it close to normal again after injury, age, or bad habits. She never seems to take a vacation, instead she takes another class. She has brought multiple techniques to bear in our therapy sessions, and I have benefited greatly from her growing expertise. Working with Christine is the best investment I've made for my personal well-being and I'll continue to work with her to maintain it. And, to boot, she's a great human being.”

"Working with Christine over the past year and a half, I have been able to avoid steroid injections, lidocaine patches, and muscle relaxants. Her expertise as a certified Feldenkrais® practitioner, Pilates instructor, and strength trainer has provided me with the knowledge to connect to my core, align my spine, and to choose movements that help, rather than harm the discs in my neck that have deteriorated from arthritis. Her expertise in Pilates has helped me restore bone loss in my hips, and I have gained strength throughout my body.

Our time together is the best investment I've made. Each lesson provides me with tools to employ when I need to soothe or strengthen myself. The education I've received from Christine is priceless. Most impressive is Christine herself. More than any other professional I've encountered—osteopaths, physical therapists, chiropractors—Christine is PRESENT. In my experience, it's rare to encounter someone who gives you their attention so genuinely. Her enthusiasm for learning is evident in her continuing education, which she generously shares with her clients. Christine is unaffectedly charming and kind."

You are not your diagnosis!

What if you could use your strengths to overcome some weaknesses or limitations? Wouldn’t that be great?

The interventions I offer to relieve your chronic pain focus on improving, rather than correcting, since there is really no limit to your ability to improve.

Unlike traditional medicine, I like to think more deeply about why you want to get well, by going beyond the pain. Your answers will allow me to guide you in exploring how you are moving right now and how you can evolve, rather than hammering on the problem.

With tailor-made exercises from Pilates, Feldenkrais®, and other methods that have proven to work over time, you can gradually get over the pain and improve your situation.

Depending on the type of injury, the situation you are experiencing, and how long you’ve been struggling with the same issue, the process may be quick or take several months. It also depends on how quickly you integrate the work done together into your daily life.

I offer to accompany and coach you to provide you with all the necessary tools (Feldenkrais®, Pilates, Functional training, or a mix of the three), so that the transition is smooth and you can resume your activities as soon as possible. To get there, you will need to be attentive and motivated.
